The story of Button & Popper revolves around a family of pixies, consisting of a mother, father, and twelve children, who reside in an apple tree. They cherish the warmth and protection provided by the tree, relishing the delicious taste of apple pie throughout spring and summer. However, as autumn arrives, the leaves start to fall, transforming the apple tree into a cold and damp environment. Determined to find a better home for their family, twin brothers Button and Popper embark on a journey into the city. Despite facing initial laughter and polite excuses from others when they inquire about apartments that can accommodate twelve children and their parents, luck shines upon them when a mix-up occurs at the market. The pixies find themselves in the residence of a Professor Pilli, who listens to their story and extends an invitation for them to take care of his house while he is away at the South Pole. The brothers are overwhelmed by the Professor's kindness, and when the rest of their pixie family learns about the good news, they are filled with relief and joy once again.
