In the year 2029, Prime Minister Bob Godwin and his new political party are elected on a manifesto of eliminating crime. Harsh penalties, including the death penalty and corporal punishment, and a ban on all sexual relationships except heterosexual marriages, are introduced. Sara Molan, an ambitious TV presenter, takes a stand against the government's actions, which veer between eccentricity and bizarre. As protests increase and punishments become more severe, violence becomes inevitable. The film questions how much faith we should put in our government and how much faith they should have in themselves.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and this is a chilling reminder of the consequences that can arise when those in power wield it with little regard for the well-being of others. In the year 2029, Prime Minister Bob Godwin and his newly formed political party have been elected on a platform of eliminating crime, promising the public that they will do whatever it takes to make their vision a reality. However, their methods are far from ethical, and they soon introduce harsh penalties, including the reintroduction of the death penalty and corporal punishment. Additionally, all sexual relationships except heterosexual marriages are banned, creating a society that is deeply conservative and oppressive.

Sara Molan, an ambitious TV presenter, becomes caught up in this political upheaval, intertwining her personal and professional lives with the actions of the PM. As protests increase and punishments become even more severe, the PM's actions veer between eccentricity and downright bizarre. He becomes obsessed with retaining power and begins to entertain dark thoughts about the advantages of power and his lust for Sara.

The pressure on the PM mounts, and violence becomes inevitable. Can he overcome the opposition of former colleague David McDougall and manipulate Sara into helping him retain power for another five years? Can Bob Godwin keep the country, the media, and opposition politicians at bay and continue to impose his will on the country? As the drama unfolds, Common Sense raises important questions about the trust we place in our government and the trust they place in themselves. It serves as a cautionary tale that even the best intentions can lead down a path of destruction, and that absolute power should be wielded with caution and responsibility.

The conclusion of the story is a dramatic one, leaving the reader to wonder who will survive and what the future holds for this society. It is a reminder that power can be both a blessing and a curse, and that those who hold it must be held accountable for their actions. It is a powerful exploration of the human psyche and the lengths that people will go to in order to achieve their goals, even if those goals are morally questionable.
