In the summer of 1977, a group of young detectives known as the Blyton Summer Detective Club set out to solve the mystery of the Sleepy Lake monster, a low-life fortune hunter seeking to claim the legendary riches hidden in Deboën Mansion. However, their plans were thwarted by a group of meddling kids who uncovered the truth.

Fast forward to 1990, and the former detectives have grown up and apart, each haunted by disturbing memories of their final night in the old haunted house. Strange encounters and events continue to haunt them, leaving them with more questions than answers.

Andy, the once intrepid tomboy, is now wanted in two states and is tired of running from her demons. She needs the help of her former teammates, Kerri, a one-time kid genius and budding biologist, now drinking her ghosts away in New York with Tim, an excitable Weimaraner descended from the original canine member of the club. They also need to enlist the help of Nate, a horror nerd currently residing in an asylum in Arkham, Massachusetts.

Nate has not lost contact with Peter, the handsome jock turned movie star who was once their team leader. However, Peter has been dead for years, leaving the team with a daunting task: to get the team back together, face their fears, and find out what actually happened all those years ago at Sleepy Lake. It is their only chance to end the nightmares and, perhaps, save the world.

As they delve deeper into the mystery, the detectives discover that the Sleepy Lake monster is not the only threat lurking in the shadows. They are faced with a powerful force that threatens to destroy everything they hold dear. With the help of their old friends and new allies, they must confront their fears and uncover the truth before it is too late.

In the end, the Blyton Summer Detective Club emerges victorious, having saved the world from a catastrophic threat. They are hailed as heroes, and their legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew them. The summer of 1977 may have been their final adventure, but their legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
